Responsibilities
Assist the Budget Director with the management of the Department of Taxation’s operating and capital budgets, financial planning and resource allocation
Provide data-driven insights through the creation of financial reports, presentations and executive briefings to ensure that agency leadership has the information it needs to make sound fiscal and operational decisions
Serve as the backup for the Budget Director
Qualification
Required
Experience with government budget development, accounting, financial analysis, forecasting, generating reports and making recommendations
Proficiency in financial software tools such as Microsoft Excel and the ability to query, run reports, and use databases systems
Understanding of Virginia's state budget and the Appropriations Act
Experience with Cardinal and Performance Budgeting systems
Experience with budgetary position control and management of position control systems
Ability to present data in a clear and easily understandable manner
Advanced communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate with all divisions across the agency
Preferred
Advanced knowledge and skill with state government operations, budget and fiscal policies, and Commonwealth financial systems
Extensive experience in the public sector
Advanced data analytics expertise with working knowledge of SQL
Skilled in creating dashboards using Smartsheets, PowerBI, or similar platforms
