Responsibilities
Managing and directing all work and inspection of construction projects; coordinating construction projects; maintaining records and files; preparing reports
Oversees the preparation of plans, designs and cost estimates for the construction, maintenance, repair and extension of water, sewer and force mains, lines, pumping stations and related water and sewer facilities, streets, parks and other construction projects for all departments
Supervises the preparation of long-range studies on future capital improvement needs and related programs
Supervises the preparation of surveys, right-of-way acquisitions, agreements, easements, inspection, contractor payments, records and related project work
Administers major capital improvement projects and programs
Reviews construction progress with outside consultants
Consults with private and public officials regarding the planning, design and construction of facilities and subdivision plans
Manages and directs work performed by contractors
Oversees major construction projects
Maintains necessary records and files; prepares a variety of reports concerning department’s activities and programs
Assists with department budget and monitors expenditures
Performs related tasks as required
Qualification
Required
Ability to plan and direct the work of professional and technical subordinates
Ability to plan projects and prepare related designs, estimates and specifications
Ability to prepare complex reports
Ability to communicate ideas effectively both orally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, other public officials, associates, contractors and the general public
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in construction management, civil engineering, or related field
Preferred
