Responsibilities

The incumbent is the Regional Correctional Programs Administrator for a region within the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP)
Under the general direction of the Deputy Regional Director, the incumbent is actively involved in long range and strategic planning
Evaluate programs that may be substantive for other regional staff
Serves to execute the mission of the regional office which is to provide supervision, direction and related managerial functions for the BOP
Responsible for policy implementation, planning, directing and coordinating operations to provide services that meet unit/case management and correctional program requirements to accomplish the institutions' missions

Required

U.S. Citizenship is Required
You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level
Specialized experience is directly related experience that included substantial involvement with a correctional program and provided a thorough knowledge of correctional techniques
Experience in meeting and dealing with people that demonstrated the ability to work effectively with inmates and associates in a correctional environment
Experience must have also demonstrated the ability to perform supervisory or administrative duties successfully
Understanding the problems of custody, treatment, training, and release of inmates of penal or correctional institutions
A thorough and comprehensive knowledge of an institution's internal policies, programs, regulations, and procedures
Training subordinates, coordinating and directing activities and functions, evaluating performance of operations and the effectiveness of programs, and maintaining high standards or work objectives
Experience overseeing and administering case management, unit management and correctional program activities
Experience consulting with Warden and other top staff members to provide program guidance and to achieve a viable unit management program
Experience evaluating case management services to include submission of observation and study cases for Federal Courts and review of referrals of special offenders, including contractual boarders
Experience presenting and describing the BOP's correctional programs' philosophy/goals (of Unit Management) via public speaking, training program development/presentation and public relations affairs
Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications
If you are relying on your education to meet qualification requirements, you must upload legible transcripts as verification of educational requirement
Initial appointment to a supervisory/managerial position requires a one-year probationary period
The incumbent is subject to geographic relocation to meet the needs of the agency
Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of a urinalysis, physical, and background investigation
All applicants are subject to National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and credit checks
