Legacy Systems Engineer (AIX / Solaris)

The Legacy Systems Engineer will provide specialized support for maintaining, modernizing, and migrating legacy AIX and Solaris-based systems, focusing on their transition into modern cloud or hybrid infrastructures while ensuring system stability and continuity of operations.

Responsibilities
Support the assessment and migration of AIX and Solaris–based applications and infrastructure from on-premises or legacy hosting environments to modern cloud or hybrid platforms
Perform system and dependency discovery to identify technical risks, constraints, and modernization opportunities; develop and execute migration and cutover plans (including lift-and-shift and re-platforming)
Provide hands-on AIX/Solaris administration during migration and stabilization phases, including post-migration stabilization, performance tuning, configuration hardening, and documentation/knowledge transfer; provide surge or after-hours support during critical cutover windows as needed
Qualification
Required
5+ years of experience supporting or migrating enterprise systems, with hands-on experience in AIX and/or Solaris environments (Bachelor's degree in IT/CS or equivalent experience)
Strong understanding of UNIX-based operating systems, virtualization, and enterprise infrastructure; experience supporting system migrations to cloud or hybrid environments
Proficiency with scripting/automation (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell) and familiarity with Infrastructure as Code concepts/tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM/Bicep); able to work independently and collaborate effectively across cloud, security, architecture, and DevOps teams
