Electronic Components Reliability Engineer

Intelligent Manufacturing Solutions (IMS) is seeking an Electronic Components Reliability Engineer to oversee component selection and qualification for digital and RF products. The role involves managing obsolescence, conducting rigorous testing, and ensuring that all components meet reliability and lifecycle expectations.

Responsibilities

Champion component selection for digital and RF products so every part meets stringent reliability and lifecycle expectations
Guide proper part choices across electrical and mechanical assemblies, balancing performance, availability, and cost
Evaluate and qualify semiconductors, passives, and interconnects—integrated circuits, resistors, capacitors, connectors, and more—through rigorous testing and data-driven analysis
Proactively manage obsolescence and supply constraints: source vendors/manufacturers, identify alternates, define substitution and qualification strategies, and keep builds moving
Research termination and plastic encapsulation styles and investigate part construction processes to ensure fit-for-purpose selection
Create and maintain Vendor Identification Drawings (VIDs), Source Control Drawings (SCDs), and Altered Item Drawings (AIDs) for configuration control
Forecast cost impacts and produce accurate project cost analyses that inform design and sourcing decisions
Complete all required technical and regulatory documentation with precision and timeliness
Execute rigorous testing across products and supporting software or infrastructure to validate component performance and reliability
Drive projects to finish on schedule and within budget while upholding quality standards

Required

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field (or equivalent combination of education and experience) and 5+ years of professional experience
Demonstrated expertise in electrical component parameters and packaging
Hands-on experience with high-reliability military component standards and specifications
