Performs specimen collection by both venipuncture and capillary puncture
Specimen labeling and processing
Verifies accuracy and quality of specimens collected
Dispatches specimens to appropriate testing locations
Performs training of others in these techniques
Performs test requisition entry
Greets and directs patients through the lab
Gathers complete patient information necessary to complete the registration and accessioning of all procedures done in the area
May also perform point of care testing
Ensures accuracy of results and Quality Control measures by maintaining equipment and instruments
Follows policy for chain of custody record keeping for pre-employment urine drug screen collections
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED is required
At least 1 year of relevant experience is required
Preferred
Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant certification is preferred, but not required
