Responsibilities
Assist attorneys with the preparation, review, and filing of legal documents, including motions, pleadings, briefs, memoranda, and regulatory filings
Perform extensive cite checking and site checking, including the preparation of Tables of Authorities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable standards
Draft, edit, and proofread legal documents to ensure precision, consistency, and completeness
Prepare affidavits and supporting documentation and maintain well-organized case and regulatory files
File pleadings and materials with courts, agencies, and clerks as required
Conduct legal research using LexisNexis and Westlaw, summarizing statutes, regulations, case law, and legal commentary
Support attorneys with legal precedent and case-related research to inform regulatory strategy and litigation preparation
Investigate factual and legal issues to support case development and filings
Work closely with a large, cross-functional legal team, including receiving and processing input from senior managers and attorneys
Assist with client intake and conduct client interviews by phone or in person as needed
Support training or mentoring of junior paralegals when required
Travel to courts or regulatory venues as necessary
Qualification
Required
Prior regulatory litigation and/or litigation experience (required)
Demonstrated experience with cite checking, site checking, and preparing Tables of Authorities
Strong proficiency with LexisNexis, Westlaw, and Bluebook citation
High attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when handling information from senior leadership
Ability to work under tight deadlines with a strong sense of urgency
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Preferred
Prior regulatory experience in a utility or energy environment
Experience supporting large, complex regulatory filings
Familiarity with legal operations in a highly regulated industry
