Quality Technician III

Responsibilities
Reviews / recommends disposition of procedures and specifications from other departments
May lead internal and supplier audits to assure compliance with quality program requirements
Routinely participates in internal, customer, supplier, and NRC audits as needed
Reviews fabrication and assembly documentation for compliance with specifications and procedures
Performs documentation reviews to ensure supplier and manufacturing compliance with specifications, drawings and purchase order
Creates (CR) condition report as needed
May write/ revise quality procedures, SWIs (Standard Work Instructions) and operator aides
May train other quality employees and function as a lead
Promotes a safe and healthy work environment by following safety rules
Assists in the review and approval of purchase orders
Creates and update work instructions and procedures for product certification personnel
May prepare quality standards documentation for approval
May prepare data package files and generate release document for materials, components, and assemblies
May prepare product certification packages for submittal to customers
Administers and perform minor trouble shooting for quality database system
May function/assist as a CAPs program coordinator
May be designated as a WebCAP Administrator and/or perform screening team facilitator function
Conducts oversight and verify product center compliance with procedures, SWI’s and other applicable instructions
Conducts physical measurements and tests of components to verify quality characteristics
Identifies issues which affect product quality in manufacturing areas
Identifies procedural and process weaknesses in manufacturing areas
Conducts independent verification of completion of actions reported as complete within the corrective action program
Routinely serve as issue investigator, including conducting apparent cause analyses, for issues within the corrective action program
Performs all duties of this and lower component center quality technician classifications under minimal supervision
Inspects materials and products using fixed or preset measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications
Releases materials based on inspection results and test plans
Trains at the beginner level to operate the Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) for inspection tasks
Acts as a qualified dye penetrant inspector
Applies intermediate level Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles during inspection and documentation
Compiles and computes engineering data, including OEE and scrap metrics
Works with engineering to develop, review, and/or revise inspection plans including SAP plans and F-plans
Performs technical tasks using general instructions
Supports welding and machining operations with inspection knowledge and hands-on experience
May train and assist lower classification Component Center Quality Inspectors
Qualification
Required
High School diploma or equivalent education with a minimum of 8 years of related experience
High School diploma or equivalent education with a minimum of 8 years of related experience, included is a minimum of 5 years of experience in a nuclear fuel facility
Advanced knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
Good communication skills to comprehend procedures, specifications and drawings with ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management, vendors and customers
Ability to evaluate documentation for compliance
High level knowledge of SAP systems, including inspection plan review, F-plan revision, and inventory control
Performs all duties of this and lower component center quality technician classifications under minimal supervision
