Senior Manufacturing Engineer

World View is a next-generation intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) provider delivering integrated, multi-domain solutions across air, stratosphere, and space. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining manufacturing systems, while collaborating with various teams to enhance product flow and ensure safety standards are met.

Responsibilities

Monitors and evaluates production methods to ensure adherence to product specifications and requirements
Works closely with manufacturing personnel to identify cost reduction opportunities, develop process improvements, and address production issues
Improves and optimizes product flow by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, workspace ergonomics, and equipment layout
Identifies and interfaces with external industry SME’s and suppliers to specify new equipment and select machine components to ensure cost effective solutions
Manages internal and external design, fabrication, assembly, programming, debugging, implementation, and validation of new machinery and equipment improvements
Ensures that equipment, machinery and workstations meet applicable safety standards
Supports machine maintenance and troubleshooting as needed
Supervises training and work instruction creation for new equipment and processes
Participates in engineering design reviews to provide feedback on the manufacturability of new components and assemblies
Reviews and approves engineering drawings to ensure clarity and manufacturability prior to drawing release
Interfaces with engineering and quality personnel to develop test methods, support QA studies, establish standards, and validate manufacturing processes
Provides manufacturing decision-making information through data collection; calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements
Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends in cooperation with Quality Engineering
Maintains product and process database using appropriate software to enter and analyze data
Positively reinforces and supports company policies, procedures and work practices
Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies

Required

BS/BA in related field
10+ years of manufacturing, design or test engineering experience with responsibilities including resource management, schedule management, budget responsibility, supplier selection, and multidisciplinary team involvement
A minimum of 3 years of manufacturing automation experience
Machine control design and PLC programming experience is required
Proficiency in conceptual in-line planning and standing up new automated assembly lines
Strong working knowledge of power subsystems and converter design and operation is highly desirable
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work in a fast-paced cross-functional environment, make quality decisions, and meet challenging deadlines

Preferred

3D CAD modeling skills are required, SolidWorks experience is preferred
An advanced degree in a relevant field
Hands-on experience with the automation of textile or plastics manufacturing
Knowledge of soft goods, patterning and heat-sealing methods for thermoplastics
Solar and Lithium battery charger design experience
Knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing, 6-Sigma, and DMAIC processes
Experience writing procedures and work instructions
AutoCAD experience
