Financial Analyst, Commercial Sales

Responsibilities

Maintain, enhance and support development of dashboards and reports to track sales performance and revenue against targets
Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual sales reports, and through analysis of monthly revenue, gross profit margin, and sales promotions, investigate root causes of variances between actual results, budgets, and forecasts
Monitor and analyze sales data to identify trends, risks and growth opportunities that support strategic decision-making
Track and support trade spending, including discounts, price deviation, commissions and other promotional activities to ensure proper accounting entries and comparison against budget/forecasts
Assist with sales budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting at customer, product, location, and segment levels
Support the preparation of budget and forecasts for distribution, warehousing, and freight-related cost centers
Support month-end close processes, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations for commissions, demos, rebates and promotional costs
Prepare pricing quotations to ensure required variable contribution margins
Track quotation success rates and analyze customer/product margin variances between quoted and actual results
Comply with GAAP and internal policies in all sales accounting practices
Ad-hoc reporting, special projects, and other department support as needed

Required

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field
Minimum of 2 years of financial planning and analysis experience
Strong understanding of financial forecasting, GAAP, gross margin analysis, and variance analysis
Proficient in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
Experience analyzing large datasets (trends, variances, performance metrics, etc.)
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and as a team member

Preferred

Manufacturing industry experience preferred
