Senior LevelThe City of Sunrise is seeking a dynamic Controller to lead and manage the City’s accounting, financial reporting, and internal control functions. The Controller will oversee the integrity of financial data, ensure compliance with applicable laws, and prepare the City’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.

Responsibilities
Oversee citywide accounting operations, including general ledger management, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting
Develop and implement accounting policies, internal controls, and audit procedures
Supervise, train, and mentor a team of professional accountants
Coordinate and prepare annual audits and the ACFR in compliance with GASB and GAAP standards
Collaborate with departments to ensure fiscal integrity and data-driven decision-making
Lead special financial projects that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and accountability
Qualification
Required
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Considerable professional accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities
CPA designation required
Proven experience managing complex municipal or governmental accounting systems
A collaborative approach and a commitment to public service excellence
Preferred
Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
