2+ years expThe NC Department of Administration is seeking a Boiler Operator for their Facility Management division. This role is responsible for maintaining steam output and performing maintenance and repair of steam plant boilers and equipment to ensure the efficient operation of the state government complex in Raleigh.

Responsibilities
Maintenance and repair of boilers, air compressors, steam traps, and blowers
Monitor load demands and starts of shut down respective boilers to maintain the required steam output needed throughout the State Government Complex
Position will ensure all controls, feed water, draft, etc., are maintained for optimum plant operation
Individuals must be able to react to change loads in demand as required, including during emergencies
This position will also monitor chemical feed systems for water treatment and make necessary tests and adjustments to ensure correct chemical levels are being produced
Qualification
Required
Completion of High School or (GED) and 2 years' experience in the operation of a large complex steam plant or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Thorough working knowledge of fuel oil and gas boilers
Ability to perform manual labor and stand for long periods of time
Capability of strenuous lifting, crawling, and working at heights up to sixty-five feet or more
Familiarity with building, life, and safety codes
Ability to react to change loads in demand as required, including during emergencies
Monitoring chemical feed systems for water treatment and making necessary tests and adjustments to ensure correct chemical levels
Manning an 8-hour rotational shift
Maintaining a continuous vigil and taking all steps necessary to maintain a steam output that will meet total demand
Ensuring all controls, feed water, draft, etc., are maintained for optimum plant operation
Wearing a uniform, picture ID badge, using safety equipment, and following safety regulations provided by the state
