Responsibilities
Support coordination of new product packaging designs—including updates to existing packaging—by collaborating with Product R&D, Sales, Marketing, and Operations teams
Assign raw material codes and develop specifications for packaging materials
Identify packaging cost saving opportunities and calculate projected financial impacts
Partner with external suppliers and internal cross functional teams to generate innovative packaging design solutions
Participate in cross functional project teams and deliver clear updates and presentations as required
Create and maintain packaging specifications, associated test methods, and testing standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Conduct hands on lab testing of packaging components (e.g., compression, tensile, drop testing) and prepare detailed test reports
Qualification
Required
Currently pursuing a degree in Packaging Science, Packaging Engineering, or a related field
Technical ability to perform various packaging tests using lab equipment, including compression testing, tensile testing, and drop testing
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Analytical and technical knowledge of packaging materials, processes, and systems
Self motivated with a positive attitude; organized and able to adapt to changing priorities
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CAPE/TOPS package design software
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs safely
Stand for 6 or more hours during the workday, with opportunities for sitting
Regular bending, stooping, crouching, and reaching to access equipment, materials, and storage areas
Ability to work in confined spaces and at various heights, including occasional climbing of ladders or steps
Push, pull, and maneuver carts, bins, and equipment, including heavy items with the assistance of mechanical aids when necessary
Manual dexterity and fine motor skills for handling small components and operating precision instruments
Ability to use hand tools and equipment safely and effectively as required for operating various laboratory or production equipment
Sensory ability to compare and distinguish differences in ingredients, materials, and products through taste, smell, touch, and visual inspection
Ability to follow all safety protocols, including proper lifting techniques and ergonomic practices
