Responsibilities
Designing highway/roadway and work both as part of a design team and independently
Evaluating, selecting, and applying standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria
Preparing design plans, specifications, and quantities
Reviewing and preparing calculations for project elements related to highway design
Reviewing and preparing preconstruction cost estimates for projects
Working with the team to prepare proposals
Attending meetings with clients with other members of the project team
Preparing of design plans, specifications, and quantities
Qualification
Required
Degree in Civil Engineering, or similar
North Carolina PE
Approximately 10 - 15 years of experience in highway design and local streets
Familiarity with North Carolina Department of Transportation engineering practices, standards and documentation
Experience with Microstation, Geopak, Bentley ORD, and Microsoft Office software
Good decision-making skills, flexibility, focus on quality and attention to detail
Ability to coordinate the work on various project design tasks
Interact and communicate effectively with design team members, clients and other agencies
