This role ensures compliance with internal capitalization policies and supports accurate financial reporting by analyzing project activities and determining proper cost classification.

Responsibilities
Review and evaluate incoming project requests to ensure alignment with capital policies and strategic objectives
Validate completeness and accuracy of Statements of Work (SOWs), contracts, and supporting project documentation
Assess project scope, deliverables, and timelines to support intake decision-making
Analyze project deliverables, labor, and cost components to determine proper classification between capital expenditures (CapEx) and operational expenses (OpEx)
Prepare clear documentation and financial coding recommendations
Ensure consistency with internal capitalization policies and accounting standards
Partner with IT teams, Finance, Capital Asset Accounting, and project managers to ensure accurate project intake and classification
Communicate findings, recommendations, and policy interpretations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Provide guidance to project teams on capitalization requirements and documentation standards
Ensure adherence to internal capital software policies and applicable financial reporting standards
Maintain detailed and audit-ready records supporting project classifications
Support audit inquiries and compliance reporting activities
Identify and implement opportunities to streamline intake, documentation, and classification workflows
Utilize automation and AI tools (such as Microsoft Copilot) to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of processes
Support continuous improvement initiatives within project intake and capital governance processes
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Understanding of CapEx vs. OpEx classification principles
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in complex scenarios
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into financial insights
Preferred
Experience with fixed assets, capital project budgeting, or capital project financial analysis
Knowledge of IT project lifecycle and software implementation practices
Experience reviewing contracts, SOWs, and project financial documentation
Familiarity with financial governance frameworks and regulatory compliance
Experience using automation or AI tools to improve business processes
