CDOC Electronics Specialist III (Arkansas Valley)
The Colorado Department of Revenue is seeking an Electronics Specialist III for a Correctional Facility in Crowley County, Colorado. The role involves ensuring a safe work environment and providing expertise in facility electronic systems, including security and communication systems, while also participating in policy development and training staff and inmates.

Responsibilities
Ensuring a safe and secure work environment
Providing highest level of electronics expertise
Promoting the (CDOC) Mission, Vision and Values
Serves as an expert in all matters pertaining to facility electronic systems
Repairs, modifies and adapts these systems
Ensuring strict compliance with all applicable policy and codes
Coordinates with CDOC Communications, Office of Information Technology, Colorado Inmate Phone System (CIPS), Prison Cable TV Manager, CDOC Security Technology Committee and the Vulnerability Assessment Teams
Performs periodic inventories and ensuring adequate supplies 'on hand' for routine and urgent issues
Serves as the liaison in all electronic system matters
Contributes to facility planning process as an expert
Participates in the development of security policies
Enforces these policies
Personally participates in searching, escorting, transporting, inspecting and physically restraining inmates
Provides training, ensuring operations and individuals comply with appropriate key, tool, contraband and chemical control and inmate management procedures
Instructs staff and inmate workers in the correct use of relevant tools, equipment and procedures
Coaches and mentors staff towards career development by focusing on the promotion of teamwork
Ensuring annual training, and counseling to resolve conflict
Qualification
Required
Three (3) years of professional experience repairing, maintaining, installing, modifying, calibrating, adapting, and fabricating electronic systems and equipment within a facility
Possess a valid driver's license
Possess a high school diploma or GED
Have NO felony convictions
Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States to be appointed to this position
Successfully pass all modules of the six-week Colorado Department of Corrections Basic Training
Possess the physical ability to successfully complete Defensive Tactics
Must be 21 years of age
Will be exposed to Oleoresin Capsicum during Basic Training and will be exposed while on assignment
Must be able to see and hear in order to observe, address and respond to potential breaches in safety and security
Seize, hold, control or subdue violent or assaultive persons and defend oneself or others to prevent injury
Demonstrate body agility, strength of all four limbs and the ability to walk and climb stairs consistently
Work in situations involving assaultive behavior, physical control of another person and/or restraint situations
Deal with individuals with a range of moods and behaviors, utilizing tactfulness and a congenial, personable manner
Communicate by talking, listening and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information, assignments
Work in an environment with fluctuating noise and temperature (hot and cold) which may include working outdoors in inclement weather and/or concrete floor/wall work settings
Willing and able to travel
Willing and able to work various shifts, days, afternoons, graveyards (nights) which includes a rotating shift schedule
TB (tuberculosis) screening is required of all new employees upon hire
Preferred
An Associate's degree from an accredited non correspondence college or university in Electronic Technology or Electronic Engineering in addition to the required experience
Experience with broadband and CAT 5/6 installation
Certified Uniprise Installer
