Administrative Judicial Legal Assistant

The California Department of Industrial Relations is seeking a Senior Legal Typist to provide legal administrative and clerical support within the Division of Workers' Compensation. The role involves preparing legal correspondence, reviewing and processing legal documents, and assisting parties with inquiries. The position offers flexibility to telework but requires in-office attendance at least three days a week.

Responsibilities

Independently prepare legal correspondence
Review and process legal documents such as case openings, pleadings, and other correspondence
Assist parties and litigants with inquiries and updates in person, by telephone, or email
Transcribe dictation from a dictating machine for reports, decisions, or orders

Qualification

Required

Ability to independently prepare legal correspondence
Ability to review and process legal documents such as case openings, pleadings, and other correspondence
Ability to assist parties and litigants with inquiries and updates in person, by telephone, or email
Ability to transcribe dictation from a dictating machine for reports, decisions, or orders
Typing speed of 45 words per minute
Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Ability to read and write English at a level required for successful job performance
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to follow directions
Ability to analyze situations and take effective action using good judgment in decision making
Ability to manage time and resources effectively
Ability to be responsive to management needs
