Miles McClellan Construction is seeking an eager and dedicated Human Resources (HR) professional to join their HR team in a part-time capacity. This role focuses on recruitment, onboarding, and general HR functions within the construction sector, providing hands-on experience in maintaining employee relations and compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

Supporting the recruitment and hiring process of construction workers, site supervisors, and administrative staff, including posting job openings, reviewing resumes, and scheduling interviews with the opportunity to lead this responsibility
Help coordinate onboarding processes for new hires, ensuring all paperwork is completed and new employees are properly inducted into safety protocols, company policies, and role expectations
Support the HR team with ensuring all employees have the necessary certifications, safety training, and documentation to comply with legal and regulatory requirements
Maintain accurate employee records, certifications, and safety training
Help with organizing and coordinating safety training sessions, tool-box talks, and job-specific skill development workshops
Assist in maintaining a positive employee relations environment by supporting the team and managers
Observe and assist in resolving employee concerns or conflicts in a confidential and professional manner
Support HR team in conducting employee engagement initiatives and maintaining a positive work environment
Contribute to employee recognition and engagement programs, creating materials to promote team morale
Provide general administrative support to the HR team, including preparing reports, presentations, and documentation for HR audits and compliance checks

Required

Available to consistently work between 15 to 30 hours per week depending on scheduling
Interest in the construction industry and human resources functions specific to construction operations
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with workers at all levels of the organization
Highly organized with attention to detail, capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion

Preferred

Previous experience or internship in HR or construction is a plus
Previous recruiting experience
Familiarity with construction industry-specific safety regulations, labor laws, and HR software is a bonus
Ability to communicate effectively with employees across various business units
