Intern/Co-Op - Mechanical Engineer
Advanced Energy is a global leader in power conversion and measurement solutions, headquartered in Denver, Colorado. They are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineering Intern to support development activities at their Eden Prairie, MN design center, providing an opportunity to work with a cutting-edge engineering team.

Responsibilities
Active participant in a core team to meet schedule, cost, and customer satisfaction goals
Assist in the development, testing, and de-bugging of prototype power supply units
Analyze test data and reports against functional and performance specifications
Interfacing with internal departments to ensure cost and schedule goals are met
Design sheet-metal enclosures, stamped and extruded heatsinks, cable assemblies
Efficient packaging of electronic circuitry in protective enclosures
3D layout of printed circuit board assemblies
Modeling, simulation, and design for thermal, acoustic and vibration performance
Prototype testing
Qualification
Required
Ability to work in a lab environment building, modifying, analyzing, and testing prototypes
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to meet schedule requirements and define priorities without direct supervision
Demonstrated proficiency with Windows-based platforms and with computer-based design and analysis tools, working knowledge of MS Office Suite
Candidates working towards a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 40 credits towards a Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or equivalent
Candidates working towards MS or Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
GPA > 3.25
Preferred
Experience with Solidworks, Pro-E, CFDesign, Flotherm, ANSYS and/or Solidworks Simulation
Experience with electronic packaging and/or thermal management
