Communications and Events Coordinator

Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana (YLNI) is dedicated to strengthening community connections and delivering engaging programs. The Communications & Events Coordinator supports marketing, communications, and event coordination efforts, ensuring a professional and community-focused presence for YLNI's initiatives.
Non-profit Organization Management

Responsibilities

Support and implement YLNI’s marketing and communications strategy to promote events, programs, and initiatives
Maintain a communications calendar to plan, schedule, and track content
Create, schedule, and distribute newsletters, blog posts, and social media content that highlight YLNI’s mission, members, and community impact
Prepare and maintain digital and print materials for committees, programs, and sponsors
Coordinate updates to the YLNI website, ensuring information is accurate, current, and visually consistent
Design digital and print marketing assets using Canva or similar tools in line with YLNI’s brand standards
Maintain an asset library of all event photography and digital assets throughout the year
Track and report engagement metrics (open rates, reach, attendance, etc.) to inform future communications and programming
Ensure sponsor names, logos, and recognition are accurate and consistently represented in all marketing and event materials
Help plan, promote, and execute YLNI programs and events, including the Farmers Market, Leadership Development, Social programming, Community Impact, and other community or networking initiatives
Support the development of event timelines, budgets, and logistics, coordinating vendors, partners, and volunteers as needed
Manage event communications, registration, and post-event follow-up
Capture or coordinate photography coverage to provide high-quality visual content for future marketing use
Provide on-site support for events, including occasional evening or weekend hours
Collaborate with committees to ensure events are well-organized, engaging, and on brand
Provide administrative and project support to the Executive Director and committees, including file organization, task coordination, and tracking of deadlines and deliverables
Assist with the preparation of content for reports, presentations, and sponsor or partner materials
Document communications and event procedures to support continuity and volunteer onboarding
Maintain YLNI’s brand consistency across all internal and external materials
Demonstrate flexibility and teamwork — as a small but mighty organization, all staff pitch in where needed to ensure success. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Executive Director as needed

Required

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in marketing, communications, event management, or a related field
1–3 years of experience in communications, marketing, or event coordination (nonprofit experience is a plus)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Experience or strong interest in social media management, newsletters, and digital tools
Proficiency with Canva, WordPress, Mailchimp (or similar tools), and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace
Strong working knowledge of marketing platforms and content schedulers including Meta, LinkedIn, Canva, and similar systems
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines while working full-time
Willingness to support occasional evening or weekend events
Positive attitude, creativity, and a genuine interest in YLNI's mission and community impact
