Director, Analytics Engineering, Global Transaction Banking Analytics
Scotiabank is a leading bank in the Americas, and they are seeking a Director of Analytics Engineering for Global Transaction Banking Analytics. This role is responsible for building and scaling the GTB analytics ecosystem, overseeing the design and governance of data models, and partnering with various teams to ensure analytics solutions are aligned with GTB's growth strategy.

Responsibilities
Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
Define and execute the GTB analytics engineering strategy, ensuring alignment with GTB business priorities while championing modern data practices that supportGTB’s need for timely insights, operational monitoring, and predictive analytics
Oversee the re-design and delivery of robust, scalable data pipelines across GTB’s complex product ecosystem (payments, cash management, trade, liquidity, channels) globally across North America, Europe and Latin America
Partner with Technology to co-own the modernization effort of GTB’s data landscape, including cloud migration, data governance framework and practices like metadata management, automated data quality checks, and data observability
Collaborate with enterprise data office to embed strong data governance, lineage, and quality controls to maintain trusted, well-documented GTB data assets
Work closely with Business Intelligence and Advanced Analytics teams within GTB Analytics to enable operational dashboards and advanced analytics like forecasting, Gen-AI integration
Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Consistently ‘does the right thing’ to keep the Bank safe and fosters a culture where their team, colleagues, customers, and stakeholders can speak up / raise concerns, by listening and responding in a timely manner
Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk

Qualification
Required
Minimum of 10 years in data engineering, analytics engineering, or related fields with at least 3 years in leadership role
Minimum Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Information Systems, etc.)
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Strong interpersonal skills to develop collaborative working relationship with teams across various geographies
Proven success in leading a team
Proven experience building and scaling analytics platforms in complex and regulated environments (e.g., banking or financial services preferred). Understanding of GTB domain is an asset
Expertise in modern data architecture (cloud data warehouses, streaming, orchestration frameworks)
Strong understanding of data governance, metadata management, and regulatory requirements within the data space
Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred
Master's degree or MBA (analytics/technology focus) and additional industry courses/designations (e.g., Cloud certifications, Governance certifications like DAMA) are an asset
