Responsibilities
Analyze new products prior to release and identify critical inspection areas as well as high risk reliability and safety issues
Develop inspection testing plans, long term reliability testing plans, and accelerated lifetime testing plans
Develop, establish, implement processes to enhance quality assurance to defined requirements
Perform forensic inspections of failed field products
Interact and collaborate well with members of other departments to improve quality methods and system processes which will result in a positive influence and impact on the overall quality of our products and services
Assist Manufacturing Engineering team with work instruction development and check do check processes
Develop and manage metrics gathering systems for vendor performance, internal manufacturing performance, and product field failures
Validate QA inspection technician activities through periodic audits
Initiate authority to stop a process, production for errors, safety and/or to ensure compliance with process
Support training of fellow team members as needed
Perform additional duties as assigned or requested
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering plus 5 years' experience or 10 years of commensurate experience
Quality Engineering experience relating to mechanical assemblies, electrical power supplies and wire harness
Exceptional attention to detail, time-management, and problem-solving skills
Experienced ability to safely use various metrology tools equipment including but not limited to, optical profilometer, handheld photometer, multimeter for purposes of evaluating product conformance
Proven ability to strategize, plan, organize, prioritize, and execute a variety of multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner: organize own work, set priorities, and meet critical time deadlines
Competent to work collaboratively and professionally with other departments and suppliers, facilitating the resolution of problems or conflicts
Proven experience of Quality Control best practices that can be applied in the company's environment
Thorough understanding of principles and practices of continuous improvement
Positions in this classification stand, sit, bend, stoop, kneel and reach to perform work for extended periods of time
Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds and heavier weights with the proper equipment and assistance
Preferred
ISO 9001 procedure writing and auditing, a plus
Six Sigma, Lean Certification, a plus
General knowledge of LED's, LED drivers, controls, basic lighting terminology, photometry and applications, a plus
Optical profilometer programming experience a plus
Experience with the following metrology equipment desired: Calipers, Pull Force Gauge, Multimeter, Oscilloscope, Photometer, Colorimeter, Optical Profilometer, Spectro Goniometer, Thermocouples and Thermal Camera
It is beneficial and preferred for the employee to have had experience with the machinery and equipment but is not required
