Required

Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum
Overseeing compliance with development processes and regulations for electrical and electronic systems and components
Investigating and troubleshooting all technical issues related to electrical and electronic systems and components
Managing and negotiating with electrical and electronic equipment vendors for the development of systems and components
Mentoring craftsmen, technicians and engineers in the development of electrical and electronic systems and components
Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges
Advises others on the assessment and provision of all technical solutions
Engages appropriate subject matter resources to effectively resolve technical issues
Mentors others to enhance their technical competence and its application to achieve more effective technical solutions
Coaches others in promoting, defining, analyzing, and providing superior technical solutions to business problems
Provides effective solutions to moderate technical challenges through strong technical competence, effectively examining implications of events and issues
Assumes accountability for personal technical performance and holds others responsible for theirs
Knowledge of and the ability to utilize design tools (e.g. CAD) to convert customer and market requirements into a product design
Monitors each phase of the design procedure to ensure overall operation meets standards
Trains others on major processes of product design; directs the conception of each component
Advises others on the development of multiple products and their architectures
Delivers improvement plans to senior management and compares the outcome of the design against the architecture
Evaluates feedback from customers and consults on functional weaknesses
Controls design and development costs of a proposed product through effective resource coordination
Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice
Follows procedures in carrying out routine supplier management tasks
Uses electronic systems or tools to record/retrieve supplier information and carry out transactions with suppliers
Resolves routine supplier issues; escalates non-routine issues up chain of command
Researches alternative vendors or suppliers; participates in supplier selection
Works with suppliers to ensure that purchases meet delivery date and quality specifications

Preferred

Advanced degree in related field, accredited program
Lead engineer experience in a NPI program
Strong communication skills, organizational skills and ability to influence
Previous engine component development experience including supplier collaboration
