Responsibilities

Must comply with all Criticality Safety Requirements and facility-specific authorization requirements
Ensures all samples are properly entered and tracked in the appropriate database
Assists in the development and modifications of procedures as needed within the Analytical Chemistry Organization Sample Management Group
Interfaces with waste generators, waste engineers, samplers and ACO waste management to ensure proper traceability of samples
Performs the physical packaging of samples of various sample streams according to site requirements and supporting organizations
Assists in the coordination of Sample movement, on and off site with ACO and other organizations
This position may involve sample disposal and dissolution in contamination areas
Responsible for entering sampling data into LIMS and SAP ME as needed for sampling activities
Must follow written procedures and function independently after proper training
Job may require work with beryllium, radioactive contamination or bioassay material

Required

Associate's degree in related discipline
In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., High School diploma; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative)
Must comply with all Criticality Safety Requirements and facility-specific authorization requirements
Must follow written procedures and function independently after proper training
Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status
The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required
This position may require entry into the Material Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (10 C.F.R. Part 712), which requires successful competition of a DOE counterintelligence evaluation and may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination
This position may be categorized as a 'designated position' identified by 10 C.F.R. Part 709, requiring successful completion of a DOE counterintelligence evaluation that may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination
Candidates accepting a job offer will be required to pass a pre-placement physical, drug screening and background investigation
U.S. citizenship is a requirement for security clearance applicants

Preferred

Requires working knowledge and understanding in the use of equipment, systems, and/or processes in the area of laboratory terminology and advanced skills in Sample or Waste Management
Chemistry, waste management and/or sample management experience or background
Experience in packaging, labeling, storing, transporting, and disposal of waste
Experience with RCRA, TSCA & Radiological waste regulations
Experience with waste generated at Department of Energy nuclear facilities
Knowledgeable of basic computer programs such as Word, Excel and Access
Ability to work in a team environment and have good communication skills (both oral and written)
