Postdoctoral Research Scholar, Penn State Ultrasonics Lab (PennSUL)
Penn State University is seeking a postdoctoral researcher with multi-disciplinary interests and experience in ultrasonics, seismology, rock mechanics, and physics-informed machine learning. The successful candidate will engage in laboratory work and the development of machine learning models for field scale applications.

Responsibilities
Work within Penn State Ultrasonics Lab (PennSUL) with graduate students on research activities related to projects led by Parisa Shokouhi and Jacques Rivière
Carry out fault reactivation experiments with active and passive (acoustic emission) ultrasonic monitoring
Develop physics-informed machine learning models to predict micro-seismicity
Qualification
Required
A Ph.D. in a relevant field is required by the date of hire
Experience in ultrasonics/seismology, rock mechanics and physics-informed machine learning
Ability to work with servo-hydraulic testing machines to carry out fault reactivation experiments with active and passive (acoustic emission) ultrasonic monitoring
Development of physics-informed machine learning models to predict micro-seismicity
Background in acoustics, geomechanics and geophysics
