Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Food Safety and Quality Programs, including HACCP, GMPs, traceability, sanitation, allergen control, chemical control, and pest management
Develop and deliver training programs to ensure employee understanding of food safety, regulatory compliance, and quality standards
Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, and other regulatory and third-party audit requirements (e.g., SQF/BRC/IFS)
Oversee internal and external audits, customer inspections, and certification processes
Lead root cause analysis investigations and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs)
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Production, Maintenance, and R&D to resolve quality issues and ensure product specifications are met
Manage quality records, documentation, and data trending for continual improvement
Monitor and review QA metrics, perform gap analyses, and recommend actions for improvement
Lead food safety team meetings and support a proactive, engaged food safety culture
Develops and updates component specifications
Develops and updates line inspection procedures
Maintain 3rd party certifications
Meets with suppliers to ensure continuous quality improvement
Provides summaries on quality performance
Maintains Non-compliance report
Develops and maintains department SOP’s
Assists other departments as needed to ensure that the quality of products produced meet customer expectations
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Food Science or related field or equivalent industry experience
Minimum 5 years experience as a Manager in the food industry/ manufacturing/ production
HACCP & PCQI Certification Required
Good understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) and Industry Regulations
Excellent analytical skills and problem solving ability
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Good leadership skills
Keeps records, logs, and programs organized, current, and ready for scrutiny at any time
Excellent communication, leadership, and team building skills
Good understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) and Industry Regulations
Experience with 3rd party audits and certifications
Experience with pasteurized liquid products
Safely work around various environments and loud production environment for extended periods of time
Continuously lift to shoulder height and carry up to 25 lbs. with or without assistive devices
Bend, sit, kneel and squat, balance, twist and turn, reach over one's shoulders, walk and stand continuously for extended periods of time over uneven surfaces; walk up and down stairs; and ascend and descend ladders
Wear supplied protective eyewear, hearing protection, and other PPE as required
Safely operate company forklifts after provided training
This position requires 5% travel
