Senior Aquatics
McMillen, Inc. is an engineering, environmental, and construction firm seeking a highly motivated Senior Aquatics to lead and oversee complex aquatic resource and environmental projects across California. This role involves providing technical leadership and mentorship while conducting studies on aquatic systems, water quality, and ecosystem restoration.

Responsibilities
Lead and design field investigations focused on aquatic species, water chemistry, and habitat conditions across freshwater and marine environments
Evaluate ecological impacts of pollution, climate change, invasive species, and human activities on aquatic ecosystems
Develop and implement conservation and restoration strategies to protect habitats, improve water quality, and mitigate environmental impacts
Design, manage, and oversee long-term monitoring programs to assess ecological trends and support sustainable resource management
Collaborate with government agencies, research institutions, conservation organizations, and private-sector clients to provide technical expertise and strategic recommendations
Apply statistical modeling, GIS, and biological monitoring tools to analyze complex datasets and forecast ecological changes
Prepare and review scientific reports, technical assessments, and policy recommendations to guide environmental planning and regulatory compliance
Lead stakeholder engagement and outreach efforts, fostering collaboration and transparency among clients, regulators, and community partners
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, and contribute to environmental impact and permitting documentation
Mentor junior and mid-level scientists, fostering professional growth and maintaining high-quality technical standards across projects
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Aquatic Biology, Fisheries Science, Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related field (Master's or Ph.D. strongly preferred)
15–20 years of professional experience in aquatic science, fisheries management, or environmental consulting
Proven leadership in aquatic habitat assessment, water quality evaluation, and ecosystem management
Proficiency in GIS, statistical modeling, and aquatic monitoring tools
Demonstrated success managing large, multidisciplinary projects and navigating complex regulatory frameworks
Exceptional technical writing, communication, and client engagement skills
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and teams
Willingness to travel throughout the Sacramento–Bellingham region for fieldwork, meetings, and project support
