IS Operations Analyst 3 - Communications and Cabling Infrastructure
The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County is seeking an IS Operations Analyst 3 to manage the structured cabling infrastructure for its IT Services Department. The role involves overseeing cabling projects, coordinating with project managers, and ensuring compliance with infrastructure standards.

Responsibilities
Oversees the management of complex cabling projects (low voltage cabling - includes fiber and copper) involving design and implementation for new and existing buildings
Responds to cabling service requests from customers
Bids cabling projects to contractors, awards project, obtains purchase orders, initiates project designs, manages budgets and secures necessary materials
Provides oversight and direction to internal and external resources (vendors) for the installation and maintenance of cabling and associated infrastructure components
Coordinates with Metro ITS and department project managers to ensure cable jobs are completed on time and within budget
Creates and executes small project plans or task lists associated with Metro ITS structured cabling infrastructure and all associated components (cabinets, racks, patch panels, etc.)
Performs quality checks on structured cabling; confirms infrastructure standards, confirms test results, receives and review as-builts
Will serve as main customer (internal) contact for questions and/or concerns, and will attend facility site-walks for scope development and/or surveys
Understands and works within Metro’s established vendor contract framework
Works with established contractors and team members before, during, and after each project to ensure all information from design to final documentation is delivered as needed
Assists in defining, writing, and implementing infrastructure standards and procedures involving various IT technologies
Collaborates as part of a team to develop plans and drive important business strategies to provide outstanding customer service, streamline processes, and meet financial goals
Assists in identification and mitigation/management of information security risks associated with services provided to departmental customers, and for compliance with information security policy and practice
Collaborates in identifying and addressing gaps in service policies, practices, and procedures
Assists with UPS and IT environmental room sensor monitoring along with replacement of these devices when needed
Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. associated with UPS replacements
Qualification
Required
3 or more years experience in low voltage installation and management practices including a strong knowledge of BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Service International) wiring standards
Valid Driver's License
Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. associated with UPS replacements
Preferred
Experience managing low voltage cabling vendors, project management for new projects, construction projects, and remodel projects
Knowledge of the design and implementation of structured cabling solutions including fiber optic and copper backbone cabling
Experience with outside plant cabling including aerial installations
Experience working with UPSs
Software and system experience with BlueBeam, Autodesk AutoCAD, MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
