Maintenance Engineer/Certified Building Maintenance Engineer
The County of Ventura is seeking a Maintenance Engineer/Certified Building Maintenance Engineer to maintain and oversee the upkeep of the Ventura County Fire Department Headquarters and its support systems. The role involves performing maintenance, repair, and inspections of mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring efficient operation and resolving facility-related issues.

Responsibilities
Performs all aspects of general building and facility maintenance
Uses a variety of hand and power tools; performs painting, plumbing, and carpentry work that might be required in the course or installation, repair, or maintenance
Operates, monitors, maintains, installs, troubleshoots, and repairs HVAC equipment, electrical equipment and systems, boilers, and plumbing equipment and systems, including systems that carry water, wastewater, chilled and hot water, cooling tower systems, natural gas, and fuels, etc
May work with other certified engineers and trade professionals in the performance of their duties
Completes required forms, logs, and submits reports; maintains time, maintenance, and material records
Assists with staff movement or work area maintenance such as installing sit-stand desk features, hanging pictures, whiteboards and TVs, fixing desk drawers, breaking down and moving or assembling furniture and chairs
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Any combination of training and experience in the maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment and systems which has led to the acquisition of the required knowledge, skills and abilities
At least three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in building maintenance involving the repair of minor electrical and mechanical equipment
Possession of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) certification from IUOE – Local 501. Possessing and maintaining such certification is a condition of employment. A current BOMA certification must be attached to the application
Must possess at time of appointment and thereafter maintain in current status: California Driver License
Must be able to lift and maneuver up to 40 lbs. and have the ability to reach, crouch, twist, and bend as well as demonstrate functional strength in all extremities
Preferred
Experience demonstrating a thorough knowledge of HVAC systems
Possess, or be able to obtain and maintain a Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) certification from IUOE-Local 501
Thoroughly skilled at troubleshooting most mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic operations problems in building and related systems
Thoroughly skilled in customer service
