Bridge Inspections Technician

Responsibilities

Assist with routine bridge and structure inspections under the supervision of a Qualified Team Leader
Learn and apply inspection procedures in accordance with the FHWA Bridge Inspector’s Reference Manual and TxDOT Bridge Inspection Manual
Collect, record, and organize field notes, measurements, and photographs during inspections
Assist with data entry and documentation in TxDOT bridge management systems, including AssetWise
Support immediate or emergency inspections of damaged bridges as directed
Help maintain, transport, and properly store inspection tools, safety gear, and field equipment
Follow all safety procedures, traffic control requirements, and OSHA standards while working in the field
Participate in required training and professional development to progress toward TxDOT Bridge Inspection qualifications
Work collaboratively with inspection teams and engineering staff to support accurate and timely inspections
Perform other duties as assigned

Required

High school diploma or GED required
Basic understanding of bridge components, materials, and structural terminology
Awareness of inspection safety practices, PPE requirements, and field hazards
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions
Effective communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work safely in field environments, including at heights, over water, and in varying weather conditions
Basic computer skills and data entry proficiency
Willingness to learn, take direction, and develop technical inspection skills
Applicants must be legally authorized to work for Dunaway in the U.S. without employer sponsorship

Preferred

Familiarity with TxDOT bridge inspection processes preferred
Basic knowledge of digital data collection systems; experience with AssetWise preferred
Zero to five (0–5) years of prior experience in construction, field data collection, inspection support, or a related field preferred
Exposure to transportation, civil, or structural projects is a plus but not required
Associate or bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related technical field preferred
