New Grad, Entry LevelMARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) is seeking a Claims Adjuster I to assess legal liability in claims cases. The role involves gathering information, evaluating findings, and recommending actions based on analyses of claims.

Responsibilities
Responsible for obtaining information necessary to determine the Authority's legal liability in cases. Observes physical sites, interviews witnesses, reviews medical and/or police reports
Evaluates findings, prepares written reports documenting conclusions, and recommends actions based on analysis
Determines liability and/or extent of damages/payments, recommends monetary settlements, if applicable, and negotiates with claimant
Studies the proper management and maintenance of claim records and files; insures that all claim records/files are properly maintained and that payments are made on a timely basis and in compliance with all applicable rules, regulations and/or conditions governing each specific claim
Provides assistance and guidance to MARTA officials in the proper completion of necessary reports in compliance with all applicable laws and reporting requirements
Telephones and/or corresponds with claimants, physicians, lawyers, etc., to elicit information, correct errors/omissions on forms, and/or to investigate questionable data
Lawsuits- Requested by Law Department- Deliver file and discuss assignment with Senior Adjuster and Manager
Responsible for pulling all diary files
Performs related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
A Bachelor's degree in Risk Management Insurance, Business Administration, or a related field plus fundamental knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures of Risk Management
Experience in a Risk Management program can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education
Personal computer skills highly desirable
