Policy and Data Analysis Intern (Washington DC)

The International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) is an award-winning, independent global non-profit research organization focused on the impacts of the transportation sector on climate change and public health. Responsibilities

Track and compare environmental transportation policies adopted or proposed by national governments, states, and cities
Analyze and incorporate datasets relating to fleet/vehicle characteristics and energy/emissions performance into our models
Help develop inputs and scenarios for transportation models to quantify the impact of policies and technologies on emissions, air quality, public health, and charging infrastructure needs
Co-author reports, journal articles, and other publications

Qualification

Required

A strong academic record in engineering, economics, policy, transportation, environment, or energy studies as a rising senior or a graduate student
Demonstrated academic or professional experience in vehicle technology, climate change, air quality, energy, or environmental issues; familiarity with environmental and energy challenges in the transportation sector is preferred
Superior proficiency in data analysis with Python (pandas, scipy, numpy, matplotlib) or R (tidyverse) alongside Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, complex conditional statements)
Demonstrated skills in policy or related research, analysis, and presentation
Excellent interpersonal and English communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work independently and engage effectively with team members

Preferred

Familiarity with environmental and energy challenges in the transportation sector
