Responsibilities
Makes purchase recommendations on a wide variety of goods and services for Mohegan Sun
Selects vendors, places purchase orders, verifies deliveries and reviews the details of invoices for their assigned group of materials, commodities or departments
Requests and receives vendor proposals and notifies vendors when purchase commitments are made
Assists the Purchasing Manager and/or Director on vendor and manufacturer programs
Continues to source new vendors and products that will offer alternatives or savings to Mohegan Sun
Supports and trains the Purchasing Agents and Purchasing Expediters
Reports potential fraud risks or unethical behaviors of vendors, co-workers or other Mohegan Sun employees
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent
Three years of purchasing experience in a high volume, complex casino, hotel or similar environment
One year of experience negotiating with vendors and knowledge of the bidding process
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
Intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook
Knowledge of MMS/IP systems (Stratton Warren)
Ability to navigate in Stratton Warren Purchasing software and understand where information is stored
General knowledge of the Mohegan Sun property and various department locations
Office work environment
Must be able to sit in front of a computer screen for extended periods of time
Must be able to walk large areas of the casino property when meeting and escorting vendors
Must be able to work various shifts and flexible hours
