Responsibilities
Provides guidance, support, and expertise on employee benefits to HR business partners, managers, and employees
Conducts market analysis and recommends modifications or new plans to maintain the organization’s current position against the market; evaluates the effectiveness of plan design changes
Develops comprehensive benefits policy documentation ensuring alignment with company objectives and compliance with regulatory requirements
Identifies best practices and implements changes to streamline the administration of all health and welfare benefit plans in consultation with management, vendors and other internal stakeholders
Serves as senior subject matter expert and liaison with consultants, record-keepers, plan trustees and other third-party vendors
Coordinates stakeholders in processing timely file feeds, reports and communications to facilitate ongoing administration and compliance of all employee benefit plans (e.g. 401k, health and welfare) through third-party vendors
Manages open enrollment process including plan eligibility, design changes, system update and employee communications
Qualification
Required
Typically, a 4-year degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience required
8 years of related experience required
Benefits Administration - Develops, implements and administers cost-effective benefits programs, such as pension plans, life, health and disability insurance
Benefits Plan Design - Plans and implements all the non-wage compensation available to employees, such as welfare or pension options
Benefits Strategy - Designing a plan specifically focused on the current and future needs of a company as it relates to its employee benefits program
Data Analysis - Measuring and managing organization data, identifying methodological best practices and conducting statistical analyzes
Communication Management - The systematic planning, implementing, monitoring, and revision of all the channels of communication within an organization and between organizations
Request Management - Capturing, responding to, tracking and reporting across all requests for information
Market Benchmarking - Collecting and evaluating compensation data by comparing the organization's data with that of competitor companies
Policy Analysis - Determines which of various policies will achieve a given set of goals in light of the relations between the policies and the goals
Regulatory Compliance - The adherence to laws, regulations, guidelines, and specifications relevant to HR processes and workforce management, ensuring organizational activities are lawful
Vendor Management - Overseeing relationships with key vendors and partner organizations that deliver products, services, and support to the business. Negotiating and managing contracts with key service providers to ensure service levels are set appropriately and met on an ongoing basis
Preferred
Certified Employee Benefits Specialist
Experience with working in a start-up environment would be helpful
Familiarity with California laws would be helpful
