Principal Data Platform Engineer

Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable databases, data models, and supporting infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Manage and mentor a team of data engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence
Develop and execute the technical roadmap for the data platform, ensuring alignment with business objectives
Automate workflows, ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) processes to streamline data operations
Implement and champion DevOps and SecOps best practices within the data team, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and automated testing
Oversee the development and optimization of ETL processes and data pipelines to handle large and complex datasets
Leverage your expertise in Oracle, BigQuery, and other modern data technologies to build a robust and efficient data ecosystem
Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and product managers to deliver data-driven solutions
Stay at the forefront of new technologies and methodologies, and champion their adoption where they can provide a competitive advantage
Participate platform support and leadership ensuring high availability and resilience
Enable self-service data access, manage permissions, user and system access to the platform ensuring a high level of platform security and safety
Qualification
Required
A minimum of 15 years of experience in data engineering or a related field, with a significant portion in a leadership capacity
Extensive experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP). A demonstrated ability to rapidly learn and master new cloud environments is essential
Experience planning, executing, and managing technical projects from inception to completion
Strong proficiency in SQL and extensive experience with Oracle
Hands-on experience with BigQuery and managing large-scale data sets
Experience developing and delivery production python applications
Proven experience with CI/CD pipelines, test automation, and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform)
Proficiency with Git and GitHub
Deep understanding of ETL concepts and experience with modern ETL platforms
Exceptional leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team of engineers
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
A strategic thinker with a passion for solving complex data challenges
Preferred
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred
