Responsibilities
Work on recent ML/AI products and features, driving real impact in an emerging space
Attend a week-long immersive engineering class introducing commonly used technologies and emerging trends in AI, Machine Learning (ML), or Data Science
Learn software engineering best practices like writing clean, readable code, pushing code daily in a CI environment, and ensuring code reliability using industry-standard testing frameworks
Become fluent in the tech stack, from languages like Python, Scala, and C# to modern libraries like React and cloud computing services like AWS
Gain exposure to AI/ML frameworks such as Spark/Pyspark, Databricks, LightGBM, Tree models, and XGBoost
Work with LLMs from Anthropic, OpenAI, and Cursor IDE
Be assigned a project that benefits Zocdoc and provides hands-on education in AI-driven solutions, machine learning applications, or data science analytics
Build products or features that have real-world impact and are suited to your interests, such as optimizing workflows for mobile experiences or developing predictive analytics for patient scheduling
Present your summer project to the technology and leadership team at the end of the internship
Qualification
Required
Begun pursuing your Masters with a focus on ML, AI, or Data Science
A sound understanding of computer science fundamentals like data structures and algorithms, and the ability to implement these concepts in everyday engineering
Experience writing clean code in an object-oriented or functional programming language of your choice (it's true, we don't care which you use!)
An eagerness to immerse yourself in Zocdoc tech, problem-solve daily, and be challenged to grow every day
Familiarity with machine learning concepts such as supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning, or NLP, and experience working with AI/ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn
Exposure to data science techniques, including data preprocessing, feature engineering, and statistical analysis using tools like Pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib
Understanding of cloud computing and distributed systems, including working with AWS, GCP, or Azure for deploying ML models and data pipelines
Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively discuss even the smallest nuance of your code or ML model with your scrum team
