Responsibilities
Answers telephone screens and routes calls takes messages and provides information according to department procedure
Assists in the accumulation of data and the preparation of reports and correspondence
Assists in the distribution of information and processing of laboratory receipts
Completes purchase orders and miscellaneous forms; checks proofreads sorts assembles and distributes materials; operates standard office equipment such as calculators copy machines and typewriters
Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations
Orders and maintains office supplies
Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts as required
Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams
Responds to requests for information and assistance in a timely manner
Schedules appointments and meetings
Sets up and maintains departmental files and records and assists in maintaining office systems. Organizes and files information reports and correspondence
Sorts prioritizes and distributes all incoming mail
Types letters memos minutes and other materials
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent; required
Less than 1 year 6 months clerical/office experience required
Typing and computer skills
Preferred
knowledge of medical terminology preferred
