As a Signal Engineer, you will be responsible for wayside/crossing designs and VLC/WIU programming while ensuring compliance with railroad standards and FRA regulations.
Railroad Manufacture
Responsibilities
Complete wayside/crossing designs as required
Complete vital logic controller (VLC) programming as required
Complete wayside interface unit (WIU) programming as required
Complete scope reviews with manager and project leader
Attend project reviews with customers and project leads
Work within Microstation (CADD)
Manage and organize files within a document control system
Maintain versioning control
Review deliverables for proper version and accuracy prior to delivery
Produce documentation as required by the DP/DLWI Quality System requirements
Monitor budget and timelines
Acquire a thorough understanding of RR standards and FRA regulations
Maintain knowledge of industry standards and guidelines
Perform other tasks as assigned by manager
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in electrical, electronic, computer or mechanical engineering; or computer science. Equivalent work experience in the railroad signal industry is acceptable in lieu of educational requirement
Knowledge of accepted railway industry quality standards, AREMA guidelines, FRA regulations, and customer specific requirements, preferred but not mandatory Must become familiar with individual customer's standards as a part of the check process
Proficient with MS Office suite (Excel, Office Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio and Word)
Strong written and verbal communications skills
e-RAILSAFE and Roadway Worker Protection Certification (can attain on the job)
