Senior Research Specialist

Responsibilities
Designs independent pilot research projects, contributes to writing of research proposals, co-authorship of scientific publications, application of new grants, and protocols
Analyzes and evaluates experimental data and interprets results within the scope of the study; assesses the importance of findings in relation to the general research program
Supervise and trains new lab members: any new rotating/permanent graduate students, as well as new post-doctoral candidates and visiting scientists requiring training in laboratory methods and procedures
Performs molecular biological techniques, develops and validates new protocols for cell/molecular biology assessment of tissue
Dissection of mouse tissues, sectioning of paraffin or frozen tissues, histological staining, immunohistochemistry, and in situ hybridization of samples
Qualification
Required
Prior experience with mouse handling
Tissue harvest and sample processing
Molecular biology skills (PCR, qRT-PCR, gel electrophoresis, Western blotting, cloning etc.)
Bioinformatics
Data analysis/interpretation
Excellent organizational skills
Careful attention to detail
Interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
Excellent organization skills and time management
Willingness to work with mice
Familiar with R and Microsoft Office software
Doctoral degree with major course work in the field of assignment
Minimum of 2-5 years of relevant postdoctoral training
