Start in 2026 SummerVT Group (VTG) is seeking a Data Engineering intern for the Summer of 2026 to work on Navy future tactical systems architecture. The intern will develop a distributed storage solution for submarine tactical systems and will engage in various computer technologies, including data management and cybersecurity.

Responsibilities
Participate in cross-domain working groups to coordinate prototyping and development efforts
Brief results to senior engineers
Conceive, develop, and evaluate novel engineering solutions to address the unique requirements of the maritime environment
Update colleagues and management regularly about progress and accomplishments
Communicate clearly, when required, with company and project management, project team members, and customers
Provide and update technical documentation for all work performed
Follow company-standard processes and procedures
Maintain or improve product quality
Perform tasks accurately and on-time
Stay abreast of advances in technology
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled in a college or university, pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology
Experience using Linux (RHEL/Centos 8 or 9)
Experience with shell scripting languages
Experience with modern PaaS environment tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, KVM, or Helm
Experience with distributed storage methods such as Apache Iceberg or Hive
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Initiative, innovation, and resourcefulness
US Citizenship required
Preferred
Extended experience with SQL
Experience developing software with Python on multiple projects
