5+ years expBalyasny Asset Management seeks an experienced Software Engineer to join our Core Data Services team, focusing on the development and operation of BAM’s scheduling and orchestration infrastructure. You will help build and support a proprietary, distributed task orchestration platform that coordinates large-scale job execution across cloud and on-premises environments.

Responsibilities
Design and maintain distributed computing libraries and developer-facing APIs
Build and operate robust task orchestration systems managing thousands of concurrent workflows
Design and implement scheduling/placement algorithms to optimize resource utilization, throughput, and latency
Develop monitoring and observability for distributed systems (metrics, logging, tracing, dashboards, alerting)
Drive automation (IaC/CI-CD) to reduce operational overhead and improve repeatability
Participate in an on-call rotation to meet 24/7 support SLAs; create runbooks and contribute to incident response/postmortems
Qualification
Required
5+ years of professional software development experience
Strong proficiency in Python and at least one additional language (e.g., Go, Java, or Scala)
Hands-on experience designing and implementing distributed systems (e.g., concurrency, fault tolerance, idempotency, retries)
Understanding of containerization and orchestration platforms (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
Demonstrated ownership mindset with a commitment to production reliability and operational excellence
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
Preferred
Experience with parallel compute libraries (e.g., Dask, Ray, Joblib)
Experience working with or building platforms for Quants, Data Scientists, or ML Researchers
Deeper knowledge of Kubernetes and major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Experience with task orchestration/workflow systems (e.g., Airflow, Argo Workflows, Prefect, internal schedulers)
Understanding of financial markets and trading systems
Experience with monitoring and distributed tracing stacks (e.g., Prometheus/Grafana)
Experience working with or building platforms for Quants, Data Scientists, or ML
