System Engineer

American Tech Systems is an established and growing Managed IT Services Provider supporting multiple small- and mid-sized businesses across the Tampa Bay area. The role involves supporting client environments, handling technical tickets, and administering Microsoft 365 tenants while ensuring effective communication with clients.

Responsibilities

Supporting multiple client environments mostly remotely and at times on-site
Handling Tier 2–3 tickets, escalations, and problem resolution
Administering Microsoft 365 tenants (users, security, email, identity)
Performing onboarding and offboarding for client staff
Troubleshooting Windows workstations, servers, and networking issues
Managing endpoint security, backups, and patching
Deploying and maintaining hardware (primarily Dell)
Using RMM tools (Kaseya VSA preferred) for monitoring and remediation
Writing clear ticket notes and documentation
Communicating professionally with end users and client leadership

Required

Microsoft 365 tenant administration
Entra ID (Azure AD), Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams
User lifecycle management (onboarding/offboarding)
MFA and Conditional Access fundamentals
Group-based licensing preferred
Microsoft Graph / M365 PowerShell exposure
Windows 11 Pro/Enterprise and Windows Server (2016+)
Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy
Hardware deployment and lifecycle management
Endpoint protection / EDR experience
Backup platforms (Acronis, Datto, or similar)
Patch management and system updates
Security-first mindset and phishing response awareness
Strong TCP/IP fundamentals
Firewall and VPN troubleshooting (SonicWall, Ubiquiti)
LAN/Wi-Fi troubleshooting
Basic VLAN awareness
RMM tools (Kaseya VSA)
Ticketing system discipline (Kaseya BMS)
PowerShell experience (required) — automation and admin tasks
Professional verbal and written communication
Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
Strong troubleshooting methodology
Good time management in a multi-client environment
Takes ownership and follows through

Preferred

2+ years MSP experience
Kaseya VSA experience
Microsoft, CompTIA, or security certifications
Azure fundamentals
Experience responding to phishing or account compromises
QuickBooks or line-of-business app support
