Office Assistant 2 Calculations (NY HELPS)
The NYS Office of Children and Family Services is seeking an Office Assistant 2 Calculations to perform essential numerical tasks related to account keeping and auditing. The role involves processing transactions, reviewing financial forms, and communicating with staff and vendors to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Responsibilities
Perform numerical tasks using accepted account keeping, auditing, statistical or other procedures in which mathematical calculations are fundamental
Process transactions which require mathematical calculations and knowledge of the program area where assigned
Review exception queries in the SFS
Analyze and facilitate with BSC, OCFS Purchasing and OCFS programs to effectuate resolution, so invoices are processed for payment
Communicate with agency staff and vendors to verify or obtain additional information
Create summarized reports using database or spreadsheets
Review financial forms (e.g., vouchers) for compliance with all governing entities: New York State laws, rules and regulations, OSC Guide to Financial Operations, OCFS/BSC Agency and Departmental policies

Qualification
Required
One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in this title or in a title eligible for 70.1 transfer
One year of experience where most work time is spent performing mathematical operations, and/or clerical activities related to mathematical operations
All prospective employees will be investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC), which includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks
All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee's employment application, may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment
Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information, and may be required to pay any necessary fees
All prospective employees will be screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR)
For Division of Juvenile Justice and Opportunities for Youth (DJJOY) prospective appointees will be checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs
Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment
