Summer 2026 National Tax Associate - MA Conversion

They are currently seeking entry-level Tax Associates for the National Tax Practice, where the role will involve delivering on technical income tax aspects and providing support for M&A transactions and tax research.

Responsibilities
Serve as a technical tax resource in the National Tax department in support of M&A transactions, business structuring, developing and substantiating tax positions
Conduct tax research and provide written analysis on complex tax issues and transactions
Assist in review of client position papers to ensure conclusions are consistent with firm policies and professional standards
Assist and advise engagement teams on factual development, navigating tax rules, and documenting tax positions
Build relationships through meaningful interactions across business lines to ensure excellent client service and an integrated approach
Assist with ancillary transaction services, such as transaction costs, analysis of tax attributes, earnings and profits, partnership allocations, debt taxation, and section 1202 studies
Assist with responding to IRS and state examinations and appeals, including tax notices, inquiries, Information Document Requests, Notices of Proposed Adjustments and preparation of appeals protests
Prepare penalty abatement requests and private letter ruling requests
Assist with National Tax Office functions including thought leadership publications on current tax developments or transactional matters
Assist with internal tax education functions including preparing and presenting training sessions and educational workshops
Qualification
Required
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis upon hire. Baker Tilly will not consider candidates for this position who require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future (e.g., H-1B, STEM OPT)
Must have a bachelor's degree, with a preference for accounting majors
Must meet the educational requirements to obtain CPA or attorney license upon hire
Ability to commute as needed throughout the region; to include Baker Tilly's offices
Ability to travel to client locations, including overnight stays, with travel expectations varying by department and office location
Seasonal flexibility to work overtime or additional hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed
Must have a current, accepted offer with Baker Tilly (formerly Moss Adams)
Preferred
Major in Accounting, Taxation or coursework in technology-related fields highly desirable
Masters in Taxation or JD/LLM in Taxation preferred
Reside within a commutable distance of a Baker Tilly office and be willing to work from the office on a regular basis
