Director of Finance And Administration
Breast Cancer Prevention Partners (BCPP) is seeking a part-time senior finance leader to manage operational finance, month-end close, budgeting/forecasting, grant/restricted fund accounting, and financial reporting for their growing nonprofit. This role requires a blend of strategic oversight and hands-on accounting to ensure accurate financial information is delivered to stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Lead month-end close and produce timely, accurate financial statements and analyses for the Finance Committee
Own reconciliations (bank, payroll, balance sheet cleans) and validate accounting entries; ensure journal entries and general ledger integrity
Manage restricted fund accounting and grant/award tracking — ensure proper fund releases, reporting, and compliance
Oversee payroll and benefits integrations (Gusto), including troubleshooting, accruals, and 403(b) administration in partnership with HR
Supervise/coordinate with external consultants and outsourced bookkeeping/payables resources (Bill.com, data entry, general entries)
Build and maintain internal controls, policies, and documented processes to align accounting work with organizational needs
Partner with program and development directors to create director-level, bite-sized reports on grant budgets, revenue, and cost centers
Maintain and optimize financial systems (QuickBooks + integrations); recommend/report improvements and tooling
Prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses; support annual audit and 990 preparation
Serve as point person for Finance Committee requests and present concise financial summaries at meetings
Mentor/train accounting and HR-adjacent staff to raise consistency and reduce month-end delays
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent accounting credential highly preferred
7+ years nonprofit accounting/finance experience, including fund accounting, grants management, and financial reporting
Demonstrated experience leading month-end close, reconciliations, audits, and 990 preparation
Strong hands-on QuickBooks experience and familiarity with payroll systems (Gusto), Bill.com, and CRM integrations (Salesforce preferred)
Proven ability to implement internal controls and document finance processes
Experience supervising or coordinating with external consultants/bookkeepers
Excellent communication skills — able to translate financials into concise, non-technical reports for directors and board members
Comfortable in a part-time (4 days/week) role with occasional flexibility for audit and budget peak periods
Preferred
Prior experience building reporting templates for program directors and boards
Experience with MIP or other nonprofit accounting packages and migrations
Familiarity with payroll benefit mappings (PTO accruals, FSA, 403b)
