Exceptional Children Consultant (FFTL)
The Commonwealth of Kentucky's Department of Education is looking for an Exceptional Children Consultant to provide consultative services and technical assistance on educational programming for students with disabilities. This role involves interpreting federal and state laws, supporting educational programming, and participating in various project teams.

Responsibilities
Under general direction, provides consultative services and technical assistance on educational programming for students with disabilities, as defined by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and implementing regulation (707 KAR 1:002), to local school district personnel, other state and local agencies, and parents/guardians of students
Accurately interpret and enforce the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) in regard to federal laws, state regulations, and polices for local school districts
Review and investigate allegations that a school district has violated a requirement of state or federal special education law
Support the evaluation, planning, and development of appropriate educational programming for students with disabilities
As a Formal Complaint investigator produce with accuracy and within the 60-day timeline a Report of Findings as it relates to the IDEA formal written complaints portion of the dispute resolution process
Work with district staff throughout the Corrective Action Plan (CAP) process, if applicable
Keep division director informed of any problems or issues that arise as it relates to an IDEA formal written complaint
Participate on various KDE project teams and cross-functional work groups
Support critical work around strategic priorities of the agency and office
Produce data and information for state and federal reporting as it relates to IDEA formal written complaints
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree
Must have four years of professional experience in the field of education
Must have full certification in special education or exceptional children education
Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification
