Responsibilities

Serves as a mechanical construction engineer providing on-site and remote oversight to ensure contractor compliance with approved plans, specifications, and contract requirements for mechanical systems and equipment
Performs quality assurance inspections of mechanical construction work, identifies deficiencies, documents nonconforming work, and coordinates corrective actions with contractors and project teams
Serves as Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) or Alternate COR, reviewing contractor submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), payment requests, and technical correspondence and providing recommendations to the Contracting Officer
Applies mechanical engineering principles to review drawings, specifications, calculations, and proposed changes; evaluates constructability, installation methods, and sequencing; and resolves construction-related technical issues
Coordinates and communicates with project managers, contracting staff, inspectors, engineers, and contractors; prepares technical documentation, inspection reports, and correspondence to support project decisions and contract administration

Transcripts must include the name of the college or university and date the degree was conferred
Non-submission will result in being rated not-qualified for the position
You will be required to provide official college transcripts to verify educational qualifications
Only education from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education is acceptable to meet education requirements or to substitute for experience
You must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National
You must be suitable for federal employment, determined by a background investigation
You must submit a resume and supporting documentation
You must submit eligibility documents for veterans consideration
You must meet any minimum education and/or experience requirements
You must submit transcript(s) to verify education requirements
You must maintain a valid State Driver's License at all times as the position requires operation of government vehicles on government and public roads
To qualify for the GS-12 level, you must possess a valid Professional Engineering Registration
For Mechanical Engineer (series 0830), a degree in Engineering is required
The program must lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET
You must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-09 level in federal service
You must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-11 level in federal service for GS-12 level
