Responsibilities

Responsible for monitoring and coordinating the STS Paratransit program
Reviews and processes paratransit applications
Works with paratransit applicants and clients with paratransit programs
Communicates regularly with clients and drivers to schedule and coordinate appointments and special needs
Conducts paratransit application screening for completeness
Resolve appointment conflicts for STS Bus Drivers and customers or clients
Conducts one on one interviews of paratransit applicants
Conducts home visits of paratransit applicants to evaluate safe bus transportation
May participate/conduct special events pertaining to department paratransit operations
Maintains current knowledge of federal and state guidelines, departmental policies and procedures
May be required to drive the STS bus on a backup basis, which may result in working occasional overtime and filling in on a last-minute notice
Assists with scheduling pick-up times for clients’ medical appointments and public transportation
Enters data into the computer and keeps records of paratransit applications
Enforces county paratransit policies and procedures
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

High school diploma or G.E.D
Three or more years of public transportation or related experience related experience
Three years of experience working with persons with disabilities
Must have a CDL driver's license with a Passenger endorsement or obtain one within the first six (6) months of employment
Ability to gain working knowledge of St. Mary's County Government policies and procedures
Ability to communicate effectively with staff and members of the public
Organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to multi-task
Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records
Ability to operate relevant computer systems, including hardware and software
Basic math and language skills
Ability to operate an STS vehicle, up to or equal to above a 16 passenger Transit vehicle
Position is classified as safety-sensitive and shall be subject to drug and alcohol testing as required under federal regulations
