NPI Project Manager

Confidential company is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented NPI Project Manager to lead the execution of cross-functional product development projects. This role focuses on mechanical and electrical hardware products, ensuring smooth transitions from design to production while minimizing risk, cost, and schedule impact.

Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate NPI projects from ideation through prototype builds, pilot runs, and initial production launches
Organize and manage the transfer of design documentation between Engineering and Operations
Track, manage, and drive closure of all NPI and engineering change activities (close-the-loop execution)
Partner with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to proactively identify and resolve issues related to NPI and product changes
Collaborate with Design and Development teams to ensure products are designed for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA)
Work with senior leadership to help establish manufacturing priorities, timelines, and cost considerations for NPI and changes
Coordinate prototype ordering, component sourcing, supplier engagement, and build logistics
Work directly with suppliers to obtain quotes, place material orders, and ensure on-time delivery of parts
Utilize project planning and visual management tools (Gantt charts, Kanban boards, dashboards) to drive accountability and communication
Track and report key project metrics, milestones, risks, and deliverables
Effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

Required

Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical products and components
Hands-on experience integrating products at a prototype level and preparing them for production release
Experience in manufacturing engineering, product development, or NPI-focused roles
Proven ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and Supply Chain
Experience working directly with suppliers to obtain quotes, order materials, and drive timely delivery
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
Strong attention to detail with a results-driven mindset
Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
Proficient with project planning and collaboration tools (Gantt, Kanban, dashboards)
Highly effective user of Microsoft 365 tools (Excel, Teams, Project, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
Willingness to travel up to 10% as needed
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or equivalent practical experience
Experience working directly with fabrication houses (metal, plastic, etc.)
Experience managing Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and Factory Change Notices (FCN)
Familiarity with Engineering Change Order (ECO) management tools such as PDM, Teamcenter, or similar systems
