Engineering Intern
The City of Las Vegas is accepting resumes for a STUDENT INTERN with the City Engineering Division of the Department of Public Works. The role includes a variety of duties in Sanitary Sewer Planning, Flood Control, and Environmental Oversight, allowing students to work flexible hours while accommodating their class schedules.
Responsibilities
Digitize new collection system facilities and complete attribute quality assurance updates in Geographic Information System (GIS) geodatabases
Collect and prepare supporting documents, and stage review software for Land Development project entitlement review meetings
Review reports, cost estimates, plans, and specifications on Capital Improvement Projects for City roadway, sewer, flood control, and parks projects
Assist in the traffic control, placement, and retrieval of temporary flow monitors. Participate in field investigations
Additional duties can include but is not limited to; preparing maps, drafting, filing, running various errands to other City departments or outside agencies, and assisting in other work areas as necessary
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university with a declared major in Engineering
Participate in an established training program at the city
Maintain at least a 2.5 G.P.A. at their school
Actively enrolled in classes (with a minimum of twelve (12) credits per semester)
In an undergraduate status
Hard working and career oriented
Preferred
AutoCAD and/or GIS experience is a plus
